The wine company Terre Apuane started its activity with 2011 vintage in Carrara, Tuscany, in the heart of the beautiful Apuan Apls. It produces ” Candia dei Colli Apuani” wines with controlled designation of origin (CDO) in their native varieties. Carrara is worldwide famous for its white marble, but that’s not all. Its mountain peackes reach 2000 metres above sea level and look out on the Tyrrhenian Sea, just half away by car. A unique environmental combination. And it’s here that we find Terre Apuane. Its winery is located at the small village of Castelpoggio, 700 meters asl, and is buried for over 3/4. It is the original winery in Tuscany; here with a constant ambient temperature, its CDO wines in their native varieties are produced and aged with care and passion.
Its grapes come from the vineyards denominated ” La Perla “, of recent installation, and ” Alta Forma “, a vineyard dating back to Roman times. Both face South West, look out on the sea and their processing is almost entirely manual; in fact their natural position is impervious and viticulture takes on an heroic aspect.
Each plant is unique and as such it is cultivated with care, respecting its nature, excluding the use of herbicides and minimizing the use of phyto-health treatments. This is an ambitious project undertaken by Emanuele Crudeli who wants to restore value and right placing to this small but precious area of wines.
